SWAT teams from 17 agencies -- including Stanislaus County Sheriffs Department -- trained for hostage situations, active shooting scenes and rescues of fallen officers Wednesday at the Fresno Police Department's new regional training facility.
The facility, southeast of Fresno in the 6300 block of West Central Avenue, opened in 2010 as a state-of-the-art center that Chief Jerry Dyer said was designed to keep police and citizens safe when high-risk police actions are needed.
"The more training you can provide, the better they are going to be able to handle a variety of circumstances," he said.
