PG&E will vent Coffee Road pipe in Modesto

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. plans a controlled release of natural gas at Coffee Road and Claratina Avenue this morning, a process that can produce a loud, sound like an engine and intermittent smells.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. plans a controlled release of natural gas at Coffee Road and Claratina Avenue this morning, a process that can produce a loud, sound like an engine and intermittent smells.

The utility is venting the gas as part of stepped-up maintenance of major lines after the fatal 2010 explosion in San Bruno.

The northeast Modesto release will happen between 8 and 11 a.m. and last about an hour, spokeswoman Nicole Liebelt said.

If neighbors smell gas in their homes that is not from the work site, they should call PG&E at (800) 743-5000.
