Six-year-old Isaiah Boyce knows all of wrestler John Cena’s stage moves, and the Modesto boy has been a big wrestling fan since he was a toddler.
Isaiah will get to meet Cena backstage and watch him perform Monday, thanks to Make-A-Wish America. His four brothers and his parents, Robert Boyce and Kristin Sires, will make the trip to Virginia with him.
“He’s already had three open-heart surgeries, and he has to go through more,” Robert Boyce said of his son.
The Robertson Road Elementary School first grader has been waiting two years for his turn to have his wish fulfilled.
Picking to meet Cena is a popular choice for Make-A-Wish youngsters. Cena, one of World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest stars, has granted more than 300 wishes in his career — the most in Make-A-Wish history.
Isaiah and his family will be picked up in a limousine Friday, flown to Virginia, given spending money and hotel rooms. They’ll meet with Cena before his Monday match, take photos and get his autograph, and then watch the show.
The Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada chapter, which covers Modesto, has granted more than 4,700 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
