A fire in a bathroom at Turlock High School Tuesday caused $4,000 in damage and left one student suffering from smoke inhalation.
The student was treated at the scene, Turlock Fire officials said in a news release Wednesday.
The fire was reported just before noon when the automatic alarm tripped and people reported heavy black smoke showing from the school library.
It took firefighters six minutes to control the fire. Officials said there was moderate heat and smoke damage throughout the bathroom. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
“Turlock police officers and school staff did an outstanding job of coordinating an orderly evacuation and accountability of all students and teachers,” the department release says. “Students were kept away from the involved area which allowed for a safe and rapid response.”
