Authorities identify man, woman killed in Jamestown crash

Two people killed in a collision on Highway 49 near Jamestown last week have been identified. According to the California Highway Patrol, Edward Stanton, 83, and Jacqueline Stanton, 82, of El Dorado died in the accident, which occurred at 3:28 p.m. Thursday.
Edward Stanton was driving a 1995 Buick north on the highway near Fraguero Road when a Toyota pickup heading the other way crossed the center line. Both vehicles were hit on the left front side. The Buick came to rest off the east edge of the road, while the Toyota ended up across the lanes, facing west.
The driver of the Toyota, Laura Zahm, 57, of Jamestown, was taken by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. A passenger in the truck, Lucas Miller, 18, of Sonora, was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
