The Stanislaus County Coroner’s office today identified the woman killed in a fatal accident on Dakota Avenue Thursday as Laurin Ocallaghan, 30, of Marin County.

Ocallaghan died after a truck hit her as she walked in the road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 5:40 a.m.

Felix Figueroa III, 22, of Modesto, was driving a 1989 Ford pickup north on Dakota near Blue Gum avenue at 45 to 50 mph when Ocallaghan apparently walked directly in front of the truck.

Conditions were dark; Figueroa could not stop in time and the left front bumper of the truck hit Ocallaghan, who was thrown to the ground.
