It's National Pancake Day at IHOP, and the eatery is celebrating by offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

How many pancakes does IHOP give away? According to a news release, last year’s free short stacks, if piled, would create a stack nearly 16 miles high. That’s a lot of pancakes.

Diners are asked to leave a donation to support the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals programs, with a goal of $3 million nationwide. Local donations will go to the University of California at Davis Children’s Hospital.
