Modesto police: Man robs Subway on Yosemite Boulevard

Police were looking for a man who robbed a Subway sandwich shop at gunpoint Monday morning on Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto.

It's at least the fifth such robbery of a Subway in Modesto since October and the third at this shop over the same period, according to police Lt. Jolene Gonzales.

Gonzales said the man entered the store with a black handgun about 7:30 a.m. Monday, demanded money and left with the stolen cash. Gonzales said she believed the store was still closed, and that there were only employees inside. Nobody was injured.

Police described the robber as white, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 150 pounds, with blue eyes. Witnesses reported that the robber was wearing a blue bandanna over his face, a brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information about this armed robbery to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward.
