He wrote that he "didn't hear any loud sounds" during his drive on I-75 Northbound between Troy and Bloomfield Hills in Detroit. NWS Detroit later tweeted that it could confirm that "the flash and boom was NOT thunder or lightning, but instead a likely meteor." USGS then confirmed that the meteor caused a magnitude 2.0 earthquake.

A Pembroke Pines (Florida) Police officer responded to a call on January 11, 2018, of a 12.5-foot Burmese python on the roadway and had to secure the snake and safely transport it to the police department until a licensed python remover arrived. Snakes are not an uncommon sight to Floridians, but Burmese pythons are an invasive species a threat to local wildlife, pets, and even children, according to police.Police caution that if you see a snake, do not approach it.
