Authorities said firefighters put out a blaze that caused about $40,000 in damage Sunday at Seneca Foods Corp. in south Modesto.
The fire was reported at 7:12 p.m. at 2801 Finch Road. The fire started where empty paint and-or epoxy buckets, pallets and cardboard had been placed outside of a building, said Battalion Chief Eric DeHart with the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District. He said the fire spread to the building. He said the cause is under investigation.
He said firefighters from Consolidated and Modesto and Ceres fire departments responded to the incident.
