Info: The concert benefits amputee Robert Ballesteros with medical adaptives and home care. Ballesteros was injured on the job in the Bay Area shipyards in the 1990s. Surgeons implanted a plate in his wrist to help stablize, only to have his body reject the implant requiring surgeries and gradual amputations of right arm. 75 YEARS AGO: The federal government designated Stanislaus County as defense rental area. The county was 1 of 18 areas to get such a designation, including the state of Alaska. The government required that local rent prices be cutback to March 1 or the government would step in to enforce the request. The sixty day notice was given by the Office of Price Administration for those area believed to be important war production and military training centers. Overall, there were 342 designated areas for rent reduction that would affect some 87 million residents.
