A 29-year-old Modesto woman was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing her car into a tree on Standiford Avenue early Thursday, Modesto police report.
Gisela Flores was westbound on Standiford near Longbridge Drive, between Tully and Carver roads. Near Tully, she struck a light pole but continued driving, police said. As she neared Longbridge, she lost control of her car, veered off the road and struck a tree, said Modesto police Lt. Aaron Tait.
Speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash, which occurred about 1:15 a.m., he said.
There were no passengers in the driver’s 2009 Honda Accord, no other vehicles involved and no witnesses to the crash, Tait said.
The Police Department’s Traffic Unit has begun a collision investigation and asks anyone with information to contact Officer Daniel Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org.
