No injuries were reported Thursday evening in a house fire near Oakdale, according to Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 block of Victory Avenue at 8:22 p.m. after smoke was reported near Pleasant Valley Road and Victory Avenue. Firefighters arrived and saw smoke coming from the unoccupied structure’s attic, said district spokeswoman Carissa Higginbotham.
Firefighters from Escalon and Farmington responded to assist with the blaze with the fire. Firefighters evacuated the building after an air-conditioning unit mounted on the roof began to collapse then continued their efforts outside the residence. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to contain the blaze. Crews cleared the scene at 12:24 a.m. and damage is estimated at $200,000.
Six engines, two ladder trucks and a water tender from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the fire. An engine from Escalon and a water tender from Farmington also responded. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
