Modesto

• BREAKFAST FUND-RAISER

When: Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon

Where: Martin J. Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St.

Info: An all-you-can-eat omelet and pancake breakfast fund-raiser will be held to benefit Parents United of Stanislaus County. A suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger and seniors is requested. For more information, call 550-1392.

• YOUTH DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

When: Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m.

Where: Doctors Medical Center, conference center, 1441 Florida Ave.

Info: The Modesto Diabetes Youth Support Group will meet to discuss "Holiday Carb Counting." A diabetes nurse educator will talk about how to manage homemade holiday favorites. The group is geared toward children, teens and their families who live with diabetes.

• AARP DRIVER SAFETY COURSE

When: Thursday, 8:30 a.m.

Where: Modesto Senior Center, 211 Bodem St.

Info: The AARP will hold a driver safety course. The course will renew mature driver insurance discounts for an additional three years. The cost is $14. AARP members receive a $2 discount. Preregistration is encouraged and class size is limited. For more information, call 491-5944.

• DOCUMENTARY ON AUTISM

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.

Where: Modesto Junior College East Campus, Forum 110, 435 College Ave.

Info: The Civic Engagement Project will present "Autism: The Musical." The film documents the journey taken by Elaine Hall, founder of the Miracle Project, her son Neal, and autistic children and parents who participate in a musical theater program. MJC Child Development professor Deborah Laffranchini and Valerie Arias-Bray will answer questions after the film. For more information, call 575-6668.

Where: Memorial Medical Center, Coffee Road and Briggsmore Avenue

Info: The Friends of Hospice, an auxiliary volunteer group of Community Hospice, will celebrate the 24th annual "Light Up a Life" holiday tree. The event gives local residents the opportunity to honor, celebrate and remember seriously ill loved ones and those who have died. For more information, call Community Hospice at 578-6372.

Info: Riverbank's annual Community Christmas Parade is accepting entries. The theme for this year's parade is "The Wonder of Christmas." The parade will be held Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. The fee is $10 and must accompany the entry form. For more information, call 863-7116.

Info: Seniors can get information on various programs to help with their finances. Experts will talk about long-term care insurance, reverse mortgages, veterans benefits, fraud prevention and other topics. The event is hosted by the Tuolumne County Commission on Aging. • HOSPICE LOVE LIGHT CEREMONY
