New Modesto schools trustees taking office

The victors in this month's nine-way race for seats on the Modesto City Schools Board of Trustees are set to take an oath of office Tuesday night in Modesto City Hall.

Newcomers Ruben Villalobos and Sue Zwahlen will join incumbents Nancy Cline and Cindy Marks on the board.

The four are scheduled to be sworn in at 5:30 p.m. in the basement chamber at Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.

Also, newly elected Riverbank Mayor Virginia Madueño is expected to be sworn into office Monday night.

Her election marks the end of a tumultuous year in city politics in which two mayors resigned.

The Riverbank council meets at 7 p.m. at the city community center, 3600 Santa Fe St.
