Exercise at Modesto airport will test emergency readiness

Public safety officials will be conducting a training exercise Wednesday at the Modesto airport to ensure their preparedness in handling emergencies. The training exercise will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the airport area southwest of Tioga Drive at South Conejo Avenue, according to a city news release. The training exercise will involve the Modesto Fire Department, local law enforcement agencies, ambulance companies and airport officials. A portion of Tioga Drive will be closed to traffic during the exercise. City officials asked drivers to use Monterey, Empire, Kerr and Oregon avenues as a detour.
