Riverbank officials last week gave state Sen. Dave Cogdill, R-Modesto, a tour of the former Army ammo plant turned industrial park.
The city is in talks with the Army about transferring control of the 173-acre Claus Road site to the city by April 1.
The industrial park employs 300 workers at several businesses. The city hopes to build on that by turning the park into an economic hub for green jobs.
The city also held a workshop Thursday that Cogdill visited to update industrial park tenants and prospective tenants about the city's progress in acquiring the plant.
The city next month plans to draft leases that would be for businesses after the hand-over date.
City staff and officials will provide an update on the plant at the council's Nov. 9 meeting.
