SWAT teams train in Turlock

SWAT teams from around the region were in Turlock on Saturday participating in an annual training to sharpen their skills. The Special Weapons And Tactics teams worked on special situations and hostage negotiations at five locations in the Turlock area, said Turlock police Lt. Ron Reid. SWAT teams from Modesto, Ceres, Oakdale, Manteca and Tracy participated, along with the teams from the Stanislaus County and Merced County sheriff's departments. Reid said Turlock police used an automated phone messaging system Friday night to notify residents whose homes were near the training.
