Stanislaus County

• TIRE RECYCLING

Modesto

• PORTUGUESE CLUB MEETING

When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Clarion Inn, 1612 Sisk Road

Info: Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California will hold its annual fall meeting. The Stanislaus and Hilmar clubs will host the event. The club is open to all Californians of Portuguese origin to promote scholarships, educational programs, and support other civic and charitable activities. • Irish Authors' Night

When: Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

Where: The Fruit Yard Restaurant, 7948 Yosemite Blvd.

Info: Event includes a complete dinner with a choice of New York steak, teriyaki chicken or beef lasagna. Entertainment will be live Celtic music, bagpipers from the Ripon Police and Fire Pipe Band and poetry readings of works by famous Irish bards. Cost is $26. Info: Soroptimist International of Modesto will hold its 34th annual Pancake Breakfast and Craft Boutique and Bake Sale. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Please bring one or more cans of food and receive one ticket per can for a grand prize drawing. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children age 8 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the door. • PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Where: Health Education and Conference Center, McHenry Village

Info: The Oakdale Cowboy Museum is seeking exhibitors for the 17th Annual Cowboy Christmas Gift and Craft Show. Exhibitors' items are asked to reflect a Western theme. • HAUNTED HAYRIDE

Where: Jacob Myers Park, First Street

Info: Returning for its seventh year is the Riverbank Haunted Hayride sponsored by the Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department. Passengers ride hay wagons through a "haunted" forest filled with scenes, lighting and sound effects. Cost is $6 for ages 13 and older, $4 ages 4-12; children 3 and younger are free and must sit on a lap. Ticket booth opens at 6 p.m both nights. For information, call 869-7010.

Turlock

• BARBECUE SANDWICH

Where: Calvary Baptist Church, 700 E. Monte Vista Ave.

Info: A drive-through barbecue tri-tip sandwich fund-raiser will be held to benefit Turlock Christian High School's junior/senior banquet. Cost is $5 for barbecue, tri-tip, linguica or chicken sandwich. Drinks and chips available for $1.

• TOYS FOR TOTS FUND-RAISER

When: Sunday; registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Where: American Legion Hall, 75 Bothun Road
