Hogan Manufacturing Inc. of Escalon will pay a $34,050 fine for failing to submit reports on its use of toxic chemicals, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Tuesday.
The fine was reduced from $136,200 because the company promptly disclosed and corrected the violation, according to the EPA.
It involved chromium and nickel that the steel products manufacturer used at its McHenry Avenue and Coley Avenue plants in 2004, 2005 and 2006, the agency said.
"Facilities that use toxic chemicals must provide complete and accurate information about them so that area residents and emergency response personnel are informed of possible chemical hazards in the community," Enrique Manzanilla, communities and ecosystems director for the EPA's Pacific Southwest region, said in a news release.
