Police officers and firefighters Friday evening rescued two rafters from the Stanislaus River.
According to a news release issued Sunday, a call about two lost rafters came in at 6:41 p.m.
The rafters, a 62-year-old Ripon woman and her 16-year-old grandson, had a cellular phone but said they were too tired and cold to climb to safety.
They also didn't know where they were. Rescuers searched the river from the bank, the water and the department's powered parachute, whose operator found the rafters at 7:23 p.m.
They were not hurt and were released.
