Areas in and around west Ripon will be sprayed tonight and Saturday morning by the San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District.

The spraying is part of an effort to control the spread of West Nile virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes to people, birds and other animals.

One of the areas to be sprayed is bordered by West Ripon Road, the Stanislaus River, Kincaid Road and East Jack Tone Road.

The other area to be sprayed is near the city's waste-water ponds bordered by Doak Boulevard, the Stanislaus River, Robert Avenue and Stockton Avenue.

Residents with questions can call 982-4675 or go online at www.sjmosquito.org.
