The Riverbank City Council has honored sheriff's deputy Rachel Beuttler and city employee Miguel Alaniz for their efforts in overseeing the Riverbank Community Clean Up Program. More than 25 projects have been completed using inmate crews from the Stanislaus County Honor Farm.
Beuttler has worked for the Sheriff's Department since 1998. Alaniz joined the city as a building inspector in 2005.
A team from Memorial Medical Center is one of five finalists in the fifth annual culinary competition presented by the National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management. Susan Clarot, regional food services manager, and executive chef Muni Nadan will prepare grilled flat iron steak with fresh valley greens and Gorgonzola in light red wine sauce during a cooking competition at the society's annual leadership conference Aug. 25 in Indian Wells, about 30 miles southeast of Palm Springs. The competition is sponsored by Tyson Foods and showcases the most creative culinary talent among society members. The finalists will be judged on flavor, taste, creativity and presentation.
Appointments: The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors appointed Tom Orvis of Oakdale to the county Agricultural Advisory Board.
