HOST AN EXCHANGE STUDENT

WHERE: Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, 1016 Shadow Ridge Drive
INFO: AFICE is looking for people who would like to host a foreign exchange student. These ambassadors are 15 to 18 years of age and speak English. Profiles will start arriving for students from various countries. Students will have their own spending money and medical insurance. STANISLAUS PRIDE CENTER DANCE

INFO: Doors open and food will be served at 6 p.m. There will be a Newlywed Game from 7 to 8 p.m. and dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight to a professional DJ. Cost is $15 per person. MARRIAGE EQUALITY EVENT

FAIR EXHIBIT DEADLINE

WHERE: Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way
INFO: If you entered exhibits in the 2009 Merced County Fair, today is the last day to bring them to the fairgrounds. Items will be accepted for divisions including crafts and hobbies, clothing and textiles, preserved foods, fine arts and photography. For more information about the few exceptions to the deadline, call the fair office at 722-1507, check the exhibitors' handbook or refer to the handbook online at www.mercedcountyfair.com. Regular hours at the fairgrounds office are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION

INFO: Prepare for the birth of your child by attending this two-day class. Preregistration and $40 fee required. This weekend class will focus on the relaxation and coping skills needed for labor and birth, the birth process, infant care, breast-feeding, Cesarean birth and post-partum care. A tour of the Mary Stuart Rogers Birthing Center is included. Class is limited to 12 couples. For more information, call the Education Department at 664-2580.
