Firework brings out bomb squad

A homemade firework brought the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department bomb squad to Pedretti Park in Turlock just after noon Wednesday.

City workers located a suspicious object by the park's picnic area on North Tegner Road and called Turlock police. It was a 10-inch cylinder with electrical tape wrapped around it.

The bomb squad detonated the device.
