Bomb squad detonates homemade firework in Turlock

TURLOCK — It was a homemade firework that brought the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to Pedretti Park just after noon on Wednesday.

City workers located a suspicious object by the park’s picnic area on N. Tegner Road and called Turlock police. It was a 10-inch cylinder with electrical tape wrapped around it.

The bomb squad detonated the device.
