The Waterford Unified School District's superintendent is stepping down after three years leading the 1,900-student district.
Howard Cohen, 57, submitted his resignation Monday. He has been named superintendent of the South San Francisco Unified School District, 35 miles from his home in Walnut Creek.
Cohen's contract goes through 2011; his resignation takes effect July 1. District trustees haven't selected a replacement.
Cohen said he was contacted by the group searching for the South San Francisco superintendent.
