A tanker overturned early Tuesday and spilled 6,500 gallons of milk on East Carter Road just north of Escalon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver, Alberto Gispert of Modesto, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kaiser Permanente medical center in Modesto. CHP officer Angel Arceo said Gispert was driving on East Carter Road just east of South Escalon Bellota Road about 7 a.m. when he veered onto the right shoulder. Gispert tried to get back onto the road and overcorrected, causing the big rig to overturn. The accident closed East Carter Road for a little more than three hours, Arceo said. Arceo said the truck is registered to Temple Creek Dairy Inc., which is on East Carter Road in Escalon. He said the milk leaked into a ditch.
