Leaders in the San Joaquin Valley will ask Gov. Schwarzenegger to lobby especially hard for $1 billion- worth of cooperative stimulus proposals with wide-ranging promise. Some of the projects include:

— $44 million: Install solar energy panels at schools in Ceres, Hilmar, Patterson, Hughson, Newman and Crows Landing.

— $250,000: Buy equipment for telemedicine sites on the valley's West Side.

— $85,000: Rebuild Highway 99 interchange at Kiernan Avenue.

— $3.6 million: Rebuild Highway 99 interchange at Pelandale Avenue in Modesto.

— $50 million: Rebuild Highway 99 interchange at Service Road in Ceres.

— $50 million: Widen Highway 99 in Merced County.

— $50 million: Engineering and environmental work on high-speed rail from Sacramento to Merced

— $50 million: Environmental work to improve rail service from Stockton to San Jose

— $198 million: Port of Stockton improvements

— $40 million per year in tax credits: Establish innovation zones to promote and support business.

— $1 million: Establish Green Job Corps, providing work for 140 people ages 16 to 24.

— $2 million: Create training programs in high-demand occupations.

— $1.3 million: Establish program for high-wage, high-growth jobs

— $100 million: Cut red tape that discourages clean energy and water technology jobs.

— $10 million: Buy electric cars.

— $8 million: Administer energy grants.

— $30 million: Coordinate energy projects.

— $290 million: Replace and retrofit diesel vehicles.

— $12 million: Buy alternative-fuel vehicles.

NOTE: Water projects are being processed separately. The list does not include valley proposals outside of San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced counties.
