Escalon High School will receive the coveted Distinguished School flag, statewide recognition for improved test scores, May 29 during a ceremony at Disneyland.
Several school officials, led by former Escalon High assistant principal and current El Portal Middle School Principal Mark Vos, will accept the flag that eventually will be flown over the campus.
Escalon Principal Joel Johannsen, who can't attend the Disneyland ceremony because of school graduation, was notified by state Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell.
The high school was honored for its efforts to lessen the achievement gap between segments of the student body.
A team from the California Department of Education was impressed with Escalon's progress during a visit earlier this year.
