Fire at Home Depot in Ceres

CERES — Firefighters and emergency medical workers responded to a fire at the Home Depot on Hatch Road today.

According to Ceres Fire Battalion Chief Brian Hunt, the fire was reported just before 10 a.m. near the area where the pool chemicals are kept. The store was evacuated and one employee taken to a hospital with respiratory problems.

The fire was extinguished quickly.

"We are doing observation and testing to see how much of a problem we have with the chemicals in the pool area," Hunt said.

The cause of the fire and damages have not been determined.
