A countywide law enforcement effort to pull drunken drivers off the streets over the holidays resulted in the arrests of 205 people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, officials announced Thursday.
The "Avoid the 12" campaign included sobriety checkpoints and patrols. All 12 law enforcement agencies in Stanislaus County participated in the campaign from Dec. 12 to Jan. 1.
Funding came from a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
