Police are looking for a man who robbed the Valley First Credit Union in downtown Modesto this morning.

The suspect entered the Valley First Credit Union at 1419 J St. at about 9:40 a.m., Police Sgt. Brian Findlen said in a release. The suspect approached the teller and demanded money. He claimed to have a weapon, but nobody saw one during the robbery.

The man ran away west on J Street. Police did not say how much money he took. Nobody was hurt.

Police described the suspect as Latino, in his 20s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a short "buzz" haircut, wearing a dark golf hat, white T-shirt under a black windbreaker jacket, jeans, and white sneakers. He was also described as having red (possibly chapped) lips.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
