HEALTH WORKSHOP

Info: The American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking program is offering a workshop on skills needed to quit smoking. Freedom From Smoking is an eight-session stop-smoking program that includes stress management, assertive communication and exercise skills. The cost is free. KIDZ LOVE SOCCER

When: Fridays, Jan. 23 through March 13

Where: Smyrna Park, Moffet and Fowler roads

Info: Introduce your child to soccer. A variety of activities designed around the game will be played each week. The sessions last eight weeks and are geared for children ages 2 through 12 years. The fee is $70. Preregistration is required. For more information, call Traci Farris at 538-5682.

SPECIAL NEEDS WORKSHOP

Where: San Joaquin County Office of Education, Education Service Center, 2707 Transworld Drive

Info: Parents of special needs children are invited to January's Community Advisory Committee presentation on "Parenting an Autistic Child." This session will give parents ideas on how to teach new behaviors, decrease unwanted behaviors, and strategies on how to shape behaviors that may be used at home or in public.
