LIBRARY TREE DEDICATION

Info: Ryan's Reading Tree, a lifelike oak tree installed in the Children's Room at the library in memory of Ryan Dickerson, will be dedicated by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. MEASURE E COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Info: The Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees is seeking applications from residents interested in serving on the YCCD Measure E Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. Measure E is a $326.1 million bond measure voters passed in 2004. Committee vacancies exist in five categories: taxpayers association member, college support organization (such as a college foundation) member, senior citizens organization member, Columbia College student and Modesto Junior College student. Eligible applicants must reside within YCCD's jurisdiction: all of Stanislaus and Tuolumne Counties, and portions of southern San Joaquin (including Ripon), northern Merced (including Gustine and Hilmar) and southern Calaveras (including Angels Camp and Copperopolis) counties. Applications can be obtained from the YCCD Chancellor's Office, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto 95352. COMMUNITY CENTER FUND-RAISER

Info: Engraved commemorative bricks may be purchased by the public, nonprofits or businesses to be installed on a pathway leading to the new Ceres Community Center projected to open in the spring. This is an opportunity to memorialize friends, family members or advertise a business. Individual 4-by-8-inch bricks are $100; 8-by-8-inch bricks are $200; and business-nonprofit bricks, 8-by-8 inches, are $500. The deadline for brick purchases is Wednesday. BIKE RIDE

Info: The Stanislaus County Bicycle Club will hold its annual New Year's Day Breakfast Ride, rain or shine. Breakfast will be served after the ride from 10 a.m. to noon in the recreation hall at mile marker 16. Cost is $5 or become an SCBC member and eat for free. Helmets required. Info: The city's Recreation Department is hosting an overnight New Year's Eve Pajama Rama. Children ages 6 to 13 can join in an evening of movie fun. The celebration will begin New Year's Eve at 9 p.m. and end on New Year's Day at 9 a.m. Staff will be on hand for supervision. The event will include movies, games, pizza and relays.
