Modesto police program to help businesses fight crime

The Modesto police will offer a Business Academy from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the Police Department, 600 10th St.

The course is free and geared toward small businesses, financial institutions and large commercial businesses. Lunch will be provided by BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse.

Topics will include forgery, fraud, identification theft, panhandling, security, robbery prevention, gangs and drug awareness, and the Business Watch program.

Space is limited and registration is required. Registration forms can be picked up at the Modesto Police Department or the northeast Modesto office, 3705 Oakdale Road. For more information, call community service officer Barbara Caldwell at 572-9658.
