Channing falls, breaks leg, hip

Stage actress Carol Channing, who lives in Modesto, canceled a planned concert in San Francisco on Thursday after she fell at her home.

The Museum of Performance & Design said Monday that Channing broke her leg and hip.

The concert was to kick off "Hello, Carol! A Celebration of Carol Channing," an exhibition on her life and work.

The exhibition is scheduled to run at the Museum of Performance & Design from Friday through March 14.

"It's a painful and temporary setback," Channing said in a statement, promising to return to San Francisco.
