Calling all moms, from expectant to empty nesters: there's a new place where you can connect with, commiserate and support one another, and it's as close as your computer's keyboard.

The place is ModMomsClub.com, an online community and social networking Web site for Modesto-area mothers.

The site is a joint venture between The Modesto Bee and Modesto radio station KHOP@95.1.

ModMomsClub. com, according to Dan Day, managing editor for interactive media at The Bee, "was designed to help moms and moms-to-be connect. It's a playground, a coffeehouse, a place to exchange ideas and ask questions."

The Web site will launch Monday, in conjunction with a new quarterly parenting magazine called PB&J.

ModMomsClub.com will offer several ways for moms (and dads) to interact with one another:

  • Blogging

  • Forums where people can post questions or look for specific topics of interest

  • Photo galleries that will allow people to post and share pictures

  • News feeds that direct site visitors to parenting-related articles and stories

  • A family-friendly events calendar

  • A resources list, for everything from youth sports leagues to children's health insurance.

Site users will need to register if they want to post photos or comment on message boards. Those who are registered through modbee.com will already have access.

To help the public get better acquainted with the new Web site, The Bee plans to host informational seminars sometime in October, said Eric Johnston, The Bee's vice president of interactive media and audience development.
