TURLOCK -- Stadium lights are up and the steel skeleton of a recreation center at California State University, Stanislaus, is taking shape after months of construction delays on the $16 million project.
Students approved an initiative in 2006 to fund the new complex on the campus's northeast side. It will include a fitness center with aerobics studio, a stadium with an all-weather track and soccer field and 24 acres of natural grass playing fields for intramural sports.
It was originally slated to open this fall, but university officials now plan to open the complex by spring 2009.
