HUNT FOR BODY AT LAKE: The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department is planning another search of Lake Don Pedro for the body of Carl Stephen Knight, who officials suspect was murdered. The 23-year-old Sonora man was last seen late April 5 or early April 6. Deputies say they believe he was involved in a fight with two brothers, Robert Earl Slawinsky, 28, and Paul Curtis Slawinsky, 26, who have been arrested in connection with Knight's death. "We have information that he was dumped in the lake," sheriff's Lt. Dan Bressler said. But searches have come up empty. Within the next five days, he said, deputies from San Mateo County will arrive with side scanning sonar equipment that will let deputies look at the lake at a depth of about 140 feet, where investigators believe the body might be, Bressler said. Meanwhile, he said, investigators are continuing to check the shore for evidence.

ROBBERS SOUGHT: Modesto police are searching for three men who robbed a Taco Bell restaurant at gunpoint Wednesday night. The men entered the eatery in the 2200 block of Plaza Parkway about 9:50 p.m. and ordered employees to the floor, Modesto police Sgt. Al Brocchini said. He said other employees hid in the back and called police, but by the time authorities got there, the three men were gone. He said two of the men had handguns. One is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build and wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt. A second is described as black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build and a black bandana around his face. A description of the third man was not available. Police ask anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 521-4636.
