Dear Readers, Welcome to our fifth edition of Living in the Valley. It's packed with information about places to go, things to do and sights to see right here - or near here - in the valley we call home. This year, we have something very, very special to feature. On Sept. 27 Modesto will celebrate the grand opening of the Gallo Center for the Arts. Our community has dreamed of a performing-arts center for years and now the dream is coming true. The lineup of events and performers coming this year and next is long and impressive. From Tony Bennett, Patti LuPone and the Joffrey Ballet to our local "stars" such as Central West Ballet, the Modesto Symphony and Townsend Opera Players, the Gallo Center for the Arts promises to have something for every taste and preference. Its schedule is as diverse and complex as our community. But this section isn't just about the Gallo center. We know the valley is a great place to live, and we want to make sure you know that, too. Looking for things to do? This guide offers plenty of options, from a lively night-life scene to nearby wineries to museums, festivals, events and day trips. We hope you find this a helpful and useful tool - one you will keep and refer to over and over again. You can find this section - and more valley listings - at www.modbee.com. |
