SAN FRANCISCO — November brings festivals, craft bazaars and holiday events. Not to be outdone, the San Francisco Zoo adds some special events for the holidays, too.

While animal feedings, carousel rides and miniature steam train rides attract many visitors, Santa's reindeer also fly in with some holiday cheer. Nov. 22 through New Year's Day brings the fourth annual Reindeer Romp, a rare opportunity to see live reindeer.

There's also gliding, sliding fun at the ice skating rink. Skating is $5 and skate rental is $3.

Escape shopping the day after Thanksgiving for "Storytime with Santa." Enjoy hot chocolate, decorate cookies with the elves and be treated to a visit from some of the winter animals that make their home at the zoo. The Nov. 28 event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
