Matilde Contreras had an infant, a reading problem and nowhere to turn. She found herself depressed.
She went to the Parent Resource Center, which helped her with everything from coping skills to diapers. Through the Parent Resource Center, Contreras found LearningQuest, which helped her improve her reading.
“They really helped me a lot,” she said. Now she and her 21/2 year old son, Luis, are excited about the future. She is in school and has a much brighter outlook these days.
Wrote another Parent Resource Center client: “I am not the same person today as I was nearly four years ago. When I was introduced to PRC, I was coming out of a 10-year meth addiction. PRC’s compassionate staff has given me the support I need to embrace my role as a mom, and walk down the road of recovery.
“Through PRC, I was able to obtain my GED – a vital stepping stone to getting into college. I now know that getting an education is the single most important factor in breaking the cycle of addiction and poverty. Today, I have hopes, dreams and plans for my future. PRC has enabled me to find joy in the relationship I now have with my daughter. I would not be where I am today without PRC. Their program is truly life changing.”
