It’s hard to believe this is the 27th year we have presented our annual A Book of Dreams special section.
Every year, we take this opportunity to tell the stories of people in our community who do the boots-on-the-ground work helping those who need it most, and of the people who get that badly needed assistance. And then we turn to you, and ask you to support these efforts.

Over the years, our readers have helped provide shelter for domestic violence victims, wheelchair ramps for the disabled, and even a sorely needed field for a Little League in Empire.
Never miss a local story.
Your donations have served children grieving the loss of a parent, people fighting mental illness through art and school kids who need a safe place to play after school.
Along with our partner, the Stanislaus Community Foundation, we are so very grateful for your donations.
Each time our reporters, photographers and videographers go out for these stories, we are amazed at the great work going on in our community, and how these agencies can do so much with just a little bit of money.
So, please take a few minutes to look through our stories and watch our videos to hear their stories.
We hope you will be as impressed as we are, and of course, we hope that you are moved to donate to help.
In the meantime, thank you for all the support you have provided over the years, and we hope you and your families have a safe and joyous holiday season.
