Health care workers, valley residents and community leaders will stop in Modesto and Turlock on Monday as part of a walking tour of the Central Valley to bring attention to the area's high rates of asthma and other chronic diseases.
The tour, titled "Walking the Asthma Trail for a Healthy Central Valley," runs through Thursday. It will stop in Turlock at 8 a.m. at Emanuel Medical Center, 825 Delbon Ave. The Modesto stop will be at noon in Kewin Park, 401 Buena Vista Ave.
The main event will be at the Modesto Junior College East Campus, 435 College Ave., from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteers will provide free health care services to area residents, including asthma prevention education, screening for asthma and other chronic conditions, and referrals to free and low-cost medical clinics for treatment.
