Makes 1 drink
This recipe is from "Without Reservations: How to Make Bold, Creative, Flavorful Food at Home," by Joey Altman (Wiley, $35).
2 or 3 sprigs fresh mint, plus more for garnish
Juice of 1 lime
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
2 ounces (¼ cup) rum
Ginger ale to fill the glass (about half of a 12-ounce bottle)
Put the mint, lime juice and sugar in a tall, narrow glass and use the handle of a wooden spoon or a muddler to crush the mint and release its flavor. Add a few ice cubes and rum. Add ginger ale to fill the glass. Garnish with additional sprigs, if desired.
