I’m beginning work on a new portfolio, called “Solitude.” This project will focus on both symbolic and literal representations of being alone; I want to explore the many different facets of feeling and emotion people in solitary situations experience, ranging from peaceful solace to extreme loneliness.
Exploring how different landscapes and visual sequences can invoke feelings of being alone, I hope to create a visually rich portfolio that is diverse in its viewpoints, location, and imagery, yet obviously continuous in its ideology.
I will be trying many techniques I haven’t yet experimented with, and hopefully improving my skills as a photographer, artist and storyteller, while creating images that people can relate to on an emotional level.
This project will span two months and contain local work from the Central Valley/Bay Area, as well as photographs taken in New York City, Las Vegas, Chicago and Mexico City. It will be a combination of digital photographs and 35mm film images printed on gelatin-silver. The project will be finished July 1.
