Some experts say teens need around nine hours of sleep each night.

How much sleep do you generally get?

Taylor Menezes, senior, Central Catholic High School

I can function on minimum of four hours of sleep. I might be a little cranky, but I can function. If you want me refreshed and in a good mood I'll need a solid eight or nine hours, though.

Shelby Sutter, junior, Enochs High School:

During the school week, I get eight hours per night, and on the weekends I sleep 12 to 13 hours per night.

Courtnie Chan, sophomore, Turlock High School:

I definitely don't get nine hours of sleep on a regular basis, that’s for sure! On average, I probably get six, seven hours of sleep. Don’t get me wrong, I do still have those days where I just sleep endlessly.

Dominique Germann, freshman, Modesto Junior College:

Since I follow the “farmer sleeping cycle,” I usually get nine hours. Otherwise I am one interesting individual.

Gabriella Germann, sophomore, Central Valley High:

I like to sleep around 10 hours. If I don't I feel a little weird.

Julie Fogarty, junior, Central Catholic High School:

I’m typically in the seven-to-eight-hour range, so that’s not too bad. During the school year, I have to be up around 6 or 6:15, so I try to get to sleep around 10:30 or 11ish. No matter what though, it takes me a while to feel awake in the morning.
