Kevin Perry, 16, has been awarded his Eagle badge, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
The junior at Johansen High School is a member of Troop 43 in Oakdale. He is the son of Steve and Sharon Perry of Modesto.
Kevin has been in Scouting since he was 7, beginning as a Tiger Cub Scout in Pack 6 of Modesto. He earned his Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts, when he was 10.
After joining Troop 43, his first leadership position was to serve as a den chief for Pack 6, mentoring and teaching Cub Scouts in his younger brother's den.

He has served in many leadership positions for Troop 43, including patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader and junior assistant Scout- master. He has served on staff for Five Fingers of Polaris Junior Leadership Training and attended the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia, where he served as a patrol leader.
For his Eagle project, Kevin designed and built a Memorial of crosses at Centenary United Methodist Church in Modesto. The crosses are a remembrance of pastor Don Nelson and are lighted at night.
Kevin continues to stay active in Scouting as a member of Venture Crew 43, and Modesto Fire Explorers Post 911.
