Marin County Day Trip: How to get there

WHERE: San Anselmo, located about 11 miles west of San Rafael off Highway 101 in Marin County

WHEN: San Anselmo Historical Museum, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-noon, first Saturday of each month, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., other three Saturdays, 1:30-4 p.m.; the "Surf's Up" Art & Wine Festival is set for June 27-28, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

GETTING THERE: Take Interstate 580 over the Altamont. Continue on I-580 through Oakland, veering north toward Sacramento on I-80 near the Bay Bridge. In Richmond, cross the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and take Highway 101 north toward Santa Rosa. Take the Sir Francis Drake Boulevard exit. Continue to the "Hub," the intersection of Sir Francis Drake, Red Hill Avenue, Greenhill Avenue and Center Boulevard. Downtown San Anselmo is located one block west of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard on San Anselmo Avenue.
